Check out 29 Fresh Game Cards from Magic's TMNT Set (Featuring a Commander-Style Deck!)
The world's favorite pizza-eating heroes are arriving to Magic: The Gathering. The popular trading card game's company, the game's creators, revealed a much-awaited Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion during a exclusive panel held at NYCC. Could this be a radical new set or simply another crossover marketing move? Let you be the judge.
Check out below at all the details announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, along with some useful context. All items mentioned here releases on March 6th, 2026, except for one item — the Pizza Bundle arrives a couple of weeks after on March 27.
MTG x TMNT: Main Set Reveals
Before we get into all the various unique products and bundles on offer, we’ll examine at the full lineup from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set that were revealed by the developers. Play boosters for the set are set at $6.99 per pack, while premium boosters should run $37.99 per pack.
Let’s explore a few surprising details. To begin, there's a new mechanic called Sneak, inspired by the pre-existing Ninjutsu ability, in which gamers can play powerful creatures onto the game field when an attacker goes unblocked. The big difference here is that Sneak can apply to spells that aren’t creatures as well. The designers also took the opportunity to refine the mechanic a bit (It counts as playing a spell, unlike the older mechanic). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but it's more likely we'll see Sneak in future sets moving forward.
“If we ever go back to Kamigawa, it’s possible we’d use Ninjutsu because that's where it originated and it is iconic to that,” an experienced game designer explained. “But in other settings, since the mechanics are smoother and Sneak will be Standard-legal, it’s probable we’ll use the updated version.”
That second variant of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai, is one of four cards with special art designed specifically for the set by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator the co-creator.
Oh, and, if you're shocked by the card text on Turtles Forever, which lets you play game cards outside of your deck, so was I. But as per Wizards, it’s now a legal card in every format of Magic.
Anyway, here are the extremely bizarre land cards with full art from the TMNT set:
Following Wizards of the Coast's current policy, these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard format. The designers say they were careful to make sure the cards and mechanics meshed well with other Standard sets such as Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the development for over a year and we knew it was going to be Standard-legal and which sets would be alongside it in Standard,” the designer commented. “Our goal was to ensure that there's synergy with certain expansions including Edge of Eternities.”
As an instance, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a Izzet archetype built around artifact cards.
“They mesh together to offer the components for a fun Standard-legal deck,” he says.
Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power
Following a decision to create any pre-constructed Commander decks for Spider-Man and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, Wizards is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just one precon, but it does come with six distinct legendary cards that can serve as your Commander depending on how you combine them (five of the cards include a unique partner ability called “Character Select” that lets you start with two of them in the command area rather than just one). Take a look for yourself:
The Turtle Power precon is set at $69.99, though that could easily go up based on popularity. Sources told that it contains 43 brand-new cards in total, which translates to an extra 37 TMNT-themed cards besides the six legendary commanders pictured earlier. (Calculating roughly, this suggests approximately 20 reprints if we estimate the precon comes with 37 lands.)
How will the TMNT edition of Sol Ring look like? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
Standard Bundle (Regular)
Typically, Wizards is selling a collection. This one costs $69.99 and includes the following:
- Nine Standard Boosters
- Fifteen Traditional foil basic lands
- Fifteen Non-foil basic lands
- 2 Reference cards
- 1 Traditional foil promotional card
- One Large life tracker
- 1 Card-storage box
Pizza Bundle
This is a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, mostly in that it comes in what looks like a pizza box. Every Pizza Bundle is priced at $99.99 and includes the items below:
- 9 Play Boosters
- One Collector Booster
- 25 Regular pizza-themed lands
- 5 Foil pizza-themed lands
- 2 Foil pizza bundle promo cards
- Two helper cards
- One Oversized spindown life counter
- 1 storage box
If you’re wondering what a “pizza bundle promo” is, it’s basically a reprint of an older card with brand-new TMNT artwork. Wizards revealed one for the popular Magic card Dark Ritual featuring art of master Splinter sprinkling black licorice pieces on a pizza slice. In total, there are six distinct pizza promos available.
This special bundle launches a few weeks after the core set on March 27, 2026.
Draft Bundle
This unique product is made for a four-person draft and is priced at $119.99. It includes:
- Twelve Standard Boosters (ideal for four people to draft)
- One Premium Booster (aka, the reward for coming in first)
- 90 Non-foil basic lands (to build your deck)
- 10 Non-foil token cards
- One drafting guide (a one-sheet instruction sheet to drafting the set)
Cooperative Play Set
Finally, the developers are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its ongoing effort to develop Magic game products aimed at beginners. Here, the cooperative set is a special set of decks that allow two players join forces to face a “Boss” deck that plays automatically.
The concept here that every Boss card grants unique powers to the creatures included in the boss deck. Each Boss automatically plays an additional card per turn, and you’ll start off battling {one Boss|
