A helicopter hovering above a well-attended southern California beach unexpectedly started spinning wildly, finally descending rapidly and crashing into a line of palm trees as onlookers watched.

Footage posted on the internet depict the chopper commencing to spiral over the beach then descending towards the edge of the coast, where it gets stuck amidst palm groves and a set of stairs close to the Pacific Coast highway.

Rescue Operation Information

Local firefighters said five individuals were rushed to the hospital involving two individuals who were in the aircraft and were “extracted safely from the crash site” after the crash on that day.

Three people on the road were injured. Specifics on their wounds were not immediately available.

The reason for the accident was still under investigation.
